Jøtul has produced fireplaces from cast iron since 1853. This is an extremely suitable material that endures high temperatures and rapid changes in temperature. That’s why Jøtul chooses cast iron for their fireplaces, just like car manufacturers use cast iron for their engines.
Jøtul recommends regular maintenance of both the fireplace and chimney. A clean fireplace provides for a great view of the fire and the wood burns better and cleaner. In addition, if you burn dry wood of good quality and ensure regular sweeping of your chimney, you minimise the risk of soot fires that can cause damage to the chimney. A proper maintenance system extends the lifetime of your product and gives you many years of great experiences.

Jotul is the longest-running producer of wood stoves in the world boasting a 170-year-long history. Beginning in 1853 in Norway, Jotul has been making cast-iron stoves of the highest quality ever since.
Making use of recycled material, cast iron is perfect for creating radiant heat. Perfect for cold Norweigan homes, and perfect for older Australian homes, often lacking in insulation, and constructed from double-brick or stone and featuring high ceilings and tiled floors.
While traditionally Jotul stoves have been popular in older homes, recent construction trends have made Jotul stoves a popular choice for modern homes that feature cathedral ceilings or polished concrete floors.
