Whilst these open fireplaces have specifically designed flues to increase the draw and efficiency of the unit, another option is to use a radiant slow-combustion heater in a covered area. Popular brands include Nectre, Jindara, Regency and Lacunza. These units still look spectacular but can also burn efficiently for up to 8 hours, making them an economical choice for people who spend a lot of time outdoors.

If you want the convenience of a Gas fire, the Regency HZ042 is an excellent outdoor unit which can be installed into decorative masonry and garden wall features. It provides a gigantic flame and solid, radiant heat without the mess or hassle of a wood heater.
